alum wires inside loco.

got a gp-9 i need to open up. some wires are short & i need to seperate the crap alum. wire from a light base strip for access. how do you guys reattach after cutting this alum. wire? is there anyway to solder it ? what with ?

Aluminum wire? I've never seen aluminum wire in any locomotive.

The wire is nickel or silver plated, copper or steel stranded wire. Aluminum is a different animal hard to solder without special flux and heat. So your wire is just copper wire.
