Hi Everyone, If you are in the Charleston area tonight please stop by and bring your boxcars. I will be happy to sign them. I will also be handing out and signing the Christmas catalog! The show runs all month so if you can't get there tonight stop in when you get a chance.
The Best Friend of Charleston Train is very significant to Charleston's history. In the early 1800's Charleston was suffering economically. The Best Friends Train was the salvation of Charleston's economy at that time.
Some years back Mary Lehr , then President of the local Railroad Historical Society, worked with the Lionel Company to create a beautiful Lionel Best Friend of Charleston train. When I learned of all this history I felt it was the perfect combination and a painting I should paint.
The original Engine House was on Ann Street so I knew that should be featured as well as Charleston's beautiful Harbor.
The actual train is now on display on John Street.
This painting along with many other Lionel memories will be on display all through December at COCO VIVO Fine Art | Interior Design Charleston SC. 25 Broad Street.
Please stop by!
The opening is this Friday 5-8. I will be signing and giving away the 2014 Lionel Christmas catalog which features one of my paintings!
All I want for Christmas is my two front teeth...and a Lionel Train!
