For grade crossing visibility, I would switch out the black and the grey. Give it an Oakland Raider look!
A gold/black Steelers look would be better. Higher visibility.
NS GP59 4610 (painted in a Southern RR color scheme), The only AC power on NS were the former CR SD80MACs, NS would let new units roam the system in primer gray - It all doesn't seem that long ago - NS has come a long way
Frank, I really like the N&W black and maroon and the Lehigh Valley snow bird versions!
Larry
I'm a buyer. Let's go, Mike Reagan.
Yes, Frank, one of those black and maroon versions would definitely compliment the 611!
I also prefer the versions with trucks painted silver.
Larry
Something about the angle of the photo of 4002 at Altoona evokes MoPac Screaming Eagle. Talon at the bottom. Or is it just me? I prefer the blue and gray, at least in photos.
David
Lets see the NS in a red scheme.
Jack
Looks like a version of the mane of their Logo Stallion:

The Motto sounds like it came from a STAR TREK Vulcan!
I have to agree with Matt01. I guess I just like the simple black and white formal color combo. Think "TUXEDO". Besides, I haven't seen any multi-colored John Deere tractors lately.
The new "Horse's Mane" paint scheme is different, has really aroused interest in NS locos but still I think it is a gimmick design as opposed to a classic design. Enjoy them while they are clean.

The Southern freight Tux with the NS horse where the Southern was would be great.

So much for my argument a few months back over lack of style today.
This is a big winner
Its not just a main; with the dark nose, its a horses whole head.
Better there than then in my bed for trash talkin'
Ive always really liked the steed, but this is awsome.
Wonder which mfg. ponies up first ?
Glad they didnt saddle for ordinary
I think they should have the tuscan stripe with the GG1 stripes going down through it.
Frank, I must admit that your "classic look" rendition with the gold pin stripes has certainly caught my eye. Nice job on all of them.
NASCAR has gone crazy over the last several years with special paint schemes. If you are serious collector, you may have to buy 10 or more diecast cars to have every car your driver drove in a single season. The diecast car companies love it. Let's see.....is there a single company that makes NASCAR diecast and model trains?
Warning: Conspiracy theory follows:
My theory is that NS will start painting every engine in a different paint scheme. Lionel will then clean up selling all those different paint schemes in O gauge.

The old grey mare she AIN'T what she used to be, AIN'T what she used to be, AIN'T what she used to be. The old grey mare she AIN'T what she used to be, many long years ago,...she was fast! ,but whats a whiffle tree?
Oh, another spelling for whippletree Like a swingletree for a horse team.
Once NS sees how hard it is to keep this stuff clean, it will be back to black!
I just got a photo of NS 4000 west bound at Leets headed for the Conway yards yesterday. It was moving !! Personally I didn't think it was nearly as impressive looking out on the high iron. Trailing was the Erie Heritage unit. First color I have seen in a long time.
NS 4000 and 4001 in action......................

I love trains and I love video games, but I don't like this P scheme nor this game lol
Love both engines in the blue and black.

Was thinking the same thing, especially the blue ones. I like it, but I have enough roads in my collection.
