They've had the smoking whistle on the G Gauge Triplex and I believe other G gauge steamers for some years now. I believe it was first shown at the 2007 (?) York meet and following catalogs offered it. Relatively old news and I doubt you'll see it in O Gauge soon.

Thanks for the info.  That explains why there was not much discussion about the smoking whistle on G gauge since it is not new.  You are probably correct that we won't see it on any Premier engines soon...just a wish!

At least not in anything American. Since MTH's emphasis appears to me to be the European and HO markets I doubt if you will see much more then what they have been giving us, the same boring remakes.

I want the boring remakes so I can replace my entire fleet with PS3

Exactly!!! There are a ton of PS2 locomotives that i missed out on the first time around and now I am just waiting for the PS3 release. They can be exactly the same as the proto2 just with proto 3 and a wireless drawbar

I believe that they are too busy. They are releasing a ton of stuff in all the gauges. We finally got a G gauge catalog and they're all just repaints. However they have the new electronics pkgs installed so they must have new couplers and lights inside to match. I would think this takes up a lot of their resources just to re-make these items. MTH had announced that the kits wouldn't be right away.

I second that.

The cover was revealed in the back of the No. 1 Gauge catalog that was just posted last week. It has the NYC Dreyfuss Hudson on the cover. I saw that they announced a Railking version in the last book, so this one will probably be Premier.

Bill

Can't really tell by the picture if it is a premier or the Railking imperial version. But I got my fingers crossed for a premier version. Also a premier 1941 Empire State Express would be awesome.

Jimcap, I'm only guessing that it is Premier because in their last catalog 2013 vol. 2 they had a Railking version of the engine it. I have my fingers crossed for it to.

They do have a couple years tho, I would actually schedule them for the projected completion date of the real engine work.

I think this is a pretty safe bet, but I think they'd wait until 4014 was operational, then they'd have absolutely dead-on sounds to use.

For me, I'd be delighted if they'd reissue the little Fairbanks H10-44 switcher.  And if they do it in Milwaukee Road colors, they'd have the very significant, first new locomotive done by FM during the end of WWII.  Very important engine, the prototype is still in existence AND they already have the tooling for the body, having been offered even before DCS was available.

The other important thing would be a USRA Heavy Mikado, a very popular and successful prototype engine.  They wouldn't have to start from scratch as a brand new locomotive because the running gear, cylinder chest, tender, etc. has already been made for the USRA Light Mikado.

Produce either one and I'm your customer for them.

JDS LTD (type it in on youtube or google) has done, from what I have seen and heard, fantastic upgrades with smoke and sound systems. You can get whistle steam, pop off valve steam, swinging bell, blowdown, etc. It is $200 each.

Agree on both. I have one of their old H10-44's that I body-swapped with a newer Rail King engine to get PS/2, but I would still buy a new one if they would paint it in the old orange and gray scheme with a red stripe. As for the USRA Heavy, I've stopped pre-ordering anything but for that one I would break my rule and sign up on the spot.

No idea, but I know what myself and some others collectors would like to see - a steam engine to go with that beautiful set of Strasburg Premiere woodsided passenger car/coaches MTH made a few years back. The cars are elusive and a challenge to locate and highly sought after due to their exquisite detailing. Unsure why Mike has yet to make a steam engine to accompany them. IMHO, I'm confident if a companion steam engine was made it would be as popular and as hot an item as the cars have proven themselves to be. Come on, Mike, are you monitoring or taking into account suggestions from this forum's postings?

Good point Matt, I will wait.

New software files with actual engine sounds can be made anytime and loaded.  So why wait!

I know what I would like.  Maybe cause I am biased!  I would love to see the new LIRR diesels with double decker passenger cars!  And also and once again because I am biased and absolutely obsessed with all things intermodal.  How about a INTER MODEL crane???  They build the cars but what do you do with it????
