Guys and gals, anyone have these engines? Would love to hear reports or see some photos.

Are we to guess which manufacturer?
Lionel from fall 2013 catalog. Sorry for the confusion.
I believe that they are coming in February.

Yep, I sure did!
I had originally ordered the actual sets that included the passenger cars for both the TX Special and Pennsy, but I was losing sleep over the cost, so I was able to change my orders to just the Pennsy AA set.
Also, the full sets with passenger cars was delayed to sometime next year and ruined my impulse buy.
I have a lot of Pennsy passenger cars to use from Williams.
Yep, read my review in that link, my only issue is the smoke units in my A unit, which I am still trying to figure out if I caused or it came that way from factory.
Either way, I love that AA set!
chipset: Any chance to see the internals of the PENNA. AA loco? I understand that they are to have can motors in the updated older post-war body shells; and what about the type of frame used? Do the trucks have Magnetraction? Dennis M.
I have not opened it, but they are can motors which I are better than the pullmors.
Traction tires, as i do not see magne traction in teh specs.
It sounds like, from postings, that the Pennsy AA sets have shipped but no word about the Texas Special AA sets?????? I did receive both powered and non-powered Texas Special B units.

Just a note...when you look at the box ends they say Texas Special, even though they are Pennsy. Nice quality control Lionel with your Chinese labor
Chipset: As regards the magnetraction - just reading the box end flap is not enough. Lionel China has been installing the magnetraction option in several of the diesels without noting it on the box flap, even not mentioning it in the catalog. You need to take a piece of steel and put it across the wheelset and see if there is any attraction. What about the frame, is it die-cast or sheet metal? Dennis M.
I will check tonight and post some pics too.
Has any member heard when the Texas Special AA units will be shipped by Lionel?

Saw the UP F3's at Nicholas Smith, very nice looking.

Chris,
I was at TrainWorld on Long Island two weeks ago during their sale and I thought I saw the Texas Special engines there. Can't be 100% sure as they are not on my want list but you may want to call them.

I received the AA units of the Texas Special about 2 weeks ago fom Ro.

And of the UPs and Pennsys. Thanks
A last gasp: any photos, guys?
I don't believe the Texas Special AA units have arrived yet. I hope Lionel will release them along with the passenger cars at the same time.

Balto reports that he got his TS engines two weeks ago, so it looks like some have arrived.
