Anyone else having trouble with USPS tracking

UPS is free to divert a package to a UPS facility. UPS stores not owned by UPS costs $5. I have recently had trouble registering for FedEx delivery management. They do not distinguish well between persons with the same first and last name and don't look at middle initials.

I am not 100% certain what you mean by an "outside remote mailbox". Anyplace I've been, there are US Post office mailboxes in various places around town for posting letters. Were your letters stolen from one of those? Or were they taken from your home's mailbox?

Just tried to register again for Delivery Manage on FedEx after the lock out expired and tried to answer the questions differently. Locked out again. What a dumb issue!

The "outside remote mailbox" is the box that sits outside the post office that you drive up to and deposit your mail.......I would never leave mail outside of my home to be sent out....especially if there is anything financial in it.....not even a birthday card.  The outside mailbox in front of a house is just too easy for thieves!  Even mail that is delivered by the post man should not sit in your home mailbox for a long time.  It is just too tempting for thieves and could contain information you don't want to share.  Sorry that I "high jacked" this thread.  This issue just happened and is still fresh on my mind.

My experience shows me that, sometimes, things just don't show up for days at a time.  No explanation is ever available, or offered.  Remember who you are dealing with.  

USPS packages that "disappear" for days are most likely in a trailer or box car sitting idle somewhere.  I have also found some that take a really roundabout way of getting here.

I have found FedEx to be the lowest cost on most boxes, like engines or buildings.  Plus, they usually get there in a couple of days.  One notable box I shipped recently was $27 USPS Priority Mail vs. $14 FedEx.  I verified at the USPS counter and the $27 was correct.  Plus, the FedEx packages haven't gone missing for days, then suddenly appearing.  USPS isn't real aggressive about getting packages moving quickly, whereas FedEx is.  We don't use UPS for shipping anymore due to cost, delayed delivery, and potential damage.

Someone mentioned "remote mailboxes" as a problem.  That has been going on for 10-15 years.  People steal box keys and help themselves.  Big problem for USPS.
