I bought an MTH HO diesel but the instructions are not that clear how to hook up a DC source threw the TIU so I can run the engine in DCS.  Waaay out of my comfort zone running with DC!  Any input would be appreciated. Thanks.

I might not understand your question fully?

You can only use the 2 fixed channels with DC.

Hooking up to a DC power source is simple. Nothing to be afraid of. With DC, just keep the polarity correct to the input and outputs. I'm not sure if that's even necessary with PS3, but I run PS2 in G scale. If you have the thick DCS users manual the chart is on page 16. I don't think you even need it.

I run DC inside and outside with my G scale layout. I have a 10 amp auto blade fuse right after the power source to protect things. My power provides either 25 or 30 amps depending on my source so the 10 amp fuse is necessary.

Please ask again if I could help you in any way.

Why go back to DCC when I have DCS!

Thanks Joe. So putting a DC source into the TIU isn’t a problem on the fixed channel and then 2 wires going out to the track correct? If I understand right I should be able to program the engine like any other of my O scale engines.

Yes, as far as I know. There was a statement from MTH about mixing AC and DC on the same TIU. There were posts here refuting that. I'm not sure where that left off. I run all AC on certain TIUs (aux power in too) and all DC on others.

I've been powering my TIU through the AUX port with a DC power supply and Fixed 1&2 with AC (ZW) with no ill effects.
