Pretty sure most would not consider that era "scale" in terms of details.

I don't have that one, but I have the N&W variant (6-16360).  I'm pretty sure they are the same offering.

For their time, they were nice because I think they were the first attempt at Stack cars by Lionel.  Now that more recent prototypical scale sized cars have been done, these won't look too good if you are used to the more recent ones.

If you have your eyes on an Intermodal Crane accessory, however, then these are the cars you are looking for.   The containers are specifically designed so the crane can remove both the top and bottom units from the car.  (the lower containers have a "notch" the clamp grasps to lift it from near the top edge. )

Thanks..i think i will pass on these..

Yes, Sinclair they will run on FasTrack 036 curves.

These cars are NOT really 027 cars, but rather traditional 0 gauge cars, as one of the early catalogs when these cars were first introduced warned they wouldn't clear the 027 switches, which is pretty obvious when watching the overhang of the cars in the above video. Though it's interesting how the 1993 owner's instructions do not mention this.

Here's a quick video of the cars on MTH 031 RealTrax, and again you can see the overhang of the cars.

I've always been interested in these cars, but I'd probably have to do some major kitbashing: Cutting a length out of the middle of the car - as well as shortening the bottom trailer - and then repainting both, to get it to run successfully on 027 curves. I've kept my eye out for some cheap beaters to try this project, but as of date, I haven't seen these cheap enough for me to warrant the risk.

I've often wondered if running these cars separately without the articulated truck would help them clear the 027 switches, but have never found that info. I'm still guessing the cars are too long to do that also.
