Running my Emd Demo units and noticed the front headlamps were pushed back behind the hood. Only found 6 screws to remove body. After their removal the back of the cab wouldn't move. I didn't want to break anything so I stopped there. The rear body shell is loose and the front of the hood is loose, just not the middle. Thanks for your assistance!imageimageimageimageimageimage

Morning update ladies and gents- put power to the track this morning and a loud buzz is heard from the engine. The top light, number boards and headlamp get really bright and then completely stop working and will not come back on at all. ARGH!!!! And for the cherry on top when I was investigating, two lift rings and a mirror broke off!  Off to A service tech or Atlas it goes on Tuesday.

"Removing an Atlas diesel hood." Har! Like anyone has ever been able to do THAT.

I actually gave up on my Atlas RS-1 a few years ago when I wanted to paint it for

the GM&O. Gave up on removing the body, that is. Handful of screws and still nothing moving.

Breaking tabs...?

So, I masked the trucks and couplers with wide blue tape, masked the windows, and painted it completely assembled. One of the best paint jobs I have ever seen, mine or not. I will never do another one.

Just to be fair, I couldn't get an MTH dummy Alco S-2 apart either; same painting method employed.

And I am definitely not new at this. Unlike the real world, model steam is much easier to deal with.
