Very Nice.  I love the red, white and blue AMX.  Looks like the one Bobby Allison drove to victory in a NASCAR race.

We have 2 layouts. One is in a 12’ x 16’ shed. The other is a 4’ x4’ old style 027 layout in our front room. I have a few vehicles on each layout. One of these cars is a model of my first car (which had been my dad’s). It was a 1950 Cadillac convertible. I found a toy Cadillac hard top in the wrong color at our CVS pharmacy. Not only was it the wrong color, but it was marked underneath as a 1953 model. But it was close enough. I painted it blue like my Caddy was, and made the top look like a “rag top.”  Then I found another Caddy model which was also the wrong color and a hard top. I cut the top off and made it look like my Caddy with the top down and painted it blue. One stays on the train shed layout, and the other one stays on the small 027 layout in the front room. In the photos the light makes the colors look very different.

I was going to post this over in Did You Buy Anything Cool Lately, but then someone resurrected my LEGO and O Gauge thread so I figure it's time to re-invigorate this thread.  It's a non-transforming Optimus Prime Transformer courtesy of JADA Toys' Hollywood Rides line via WalMart.  I couldn't find a scale on the box but it looked good to me.Here it is next to a Welly 1958 Fordmarketed as 1/43 scale.  Looks fine to me.

I've got another one of these Non-Transformer from a while back.  I believe it's the conventional tractor in this picture.

I purchased this brown1953 Chevy to be displayed in the Olive Hill Motor Sales. The Chevy has much wrong on the list to be repaired.

I ordered the mechanics from EBay and they took 5 weeks to be shipped an delivered.  That was an education.

But now with all characters painted and in place, moving onto the next project.

The ‘53 Chevy looks great!  That’s the cleanest floor the mechanics ever worked on!  😃  Great scene!

  Joe, I think that is a 1/40 scale.  Next to the 53 Ford it looks OK.  Close enough..

Added "Djer's Used Cars" to the layout...Djer wants to clear out the convertibles inventory before the snow flies here in the Northeast!  The asphalt guy just finished paving the lot before the temps began to drop.  The lot is not yet striped., but will be if the weather cooperates.  Convertibles are priced to sell to make room for the Christmas tree inventory about to arrive...

As for Jake & Elwood figures to complete the Bluesmobile, I would prefer S scale ones as they will fit in the car much better after "surgery".

Note that the ant was a cake decoration that I got from the bakery at a Publix grocery store! Ants as cake decorations???? And, yes, I did see at least one done that way so I asked about getting an ant.

Custom made trolley bus.

Bought another 1:50 scale, diecast model of an Australian truck, this time a Mack (Australia), Super-Liner.

I love the styling of Australian trucks, with lots of Chrome, and it has been over 10 years since I bought the scale models of the other 2 Kenworth (Australia), diecast trucks.

The details and graphics on the Mack are much more refined. The doors & hood open but the hinges are tiny and inconspicuous. Using a magnifying glass, I was pleasantly surprised by all the small details, that could easily be overlooked, if I adopted a 3-foot rule. But that also meant that this tractor alone, cost me $187, including shipping and taxes.

The grain trailers, also of 1:50 scale, were imported by Tonkin Replicas. They are of plastic and have much less details, separately applied parts and were priced accordingly.

Thank you, Mike...still working on the dealership.  Need to stripe the car lot pavement and put some hardtops on the lot for winter, or you could say the winter is mild so far and certain hearty customers are buying convertibles at a discounted price...lol

It seems like every time I post a new vehicle here I start by saying "Even though I don't have room for any more vehicles," so here we go again.  Today's theme Black.  On the right a 1953 Chevy Custom from Maisto.  She's a 1/43 model  picked up at Dollar General for$5.  The satin black paint job and blacked out chrome (our stainless steel whichever is appropriate on a '53) leads me to believe we're looking at a hot rod and what lurks under the hood is not stock.  So don't be fooled by the whitewalls if the leather jacket clad driver asks if you wanna race.  That shiny black '73 Bronco sans top is from the Jada Toys Just Trucks line courtesy of Walmart for $3.98.  It's labeled 1/64 scale which looks like it holds true for the pick-ups in this line but since the Bronco was a lot smaller in the 1/1 world I believe this is much bigger than 1/64.  This is the third 73 Bronco I've purchased, another open top Red one with a white hood from the same line and a yellow one with white hard top.  She' looks a little bigger but it's just an illusion caused by the hard top and a slightly higher lift.

Joe, Why don't my Dollar General, WalMart, or Wallgreen's ever have cool cars like you and others find.  All they have are oversized modern cars.  By 'modern' I mean cars that won't fit on a 1950's era layout!! 

Joe, Love that 53 Chevy'.. My Dad had a 54 Belair,  Was a great car and fast'... Nice find'.. No Dollar trees by me.. Amazing what they do have in there stores'..

So true'.. Hard to find the cars we need.. 1939 - 1960.. other than Diecast Direct.. I would love to find a $5 car in my era of modeling...

I would really like to find a '49 Chevy two-door fastback style like my dad had when I was little.

Believe it or not Diecast Direct just offered that exact car.  $89.00 , I ordered one.. Buick had the same design that year too.. Not sure about Olds, and Pontiac.  Never seen any.  I had a buddy that did have the Buick.  what a monster, a person could actually live in those cars.  The interior was even larger than the Hudson 4DR Sedan of the same year...

Very nice, Ted!  Dad's was one solid shade of green; close to the darker green on the roof and interesting V-shape on the hood.  No visor; but who knows, it may have come off by the early '60s when I remember it.

Mark most of the cars on those dollar store and grocery store racks are newer production high dollar cars, Euro Imports, Ford GTs, current gen Corvettes in 1/32, 1/34 scales.  Only luck results in something we can use with our trains either scale, type, or era, and a lot of times it's 50-something Cadillac's.
