Averaged Costs

This is not a platform for my own opinions about state of the art systems, or what system is the best, or conventional vs software. It is a simple question to those who have done comparison shopping versus catalog prices. If I were to buy one averaged cost state of the art engine with one state of the art control system, what would my range of cost be? Is there a significant difference between MTH and Lionel in terms of an averaged cost?

Also..are there any online demonstrations of how these systems work? No hobby shops where I live.

Why am I asking? For my own private consideration not to create rants etc. I am looking for information of those in this market..just averaged costs. Not suggested full retail costs but from folks who have sought bargains etc.

Good question.  I cannot give you much info on MTH however, on Lionel your cost with smart shopping is a low of $350 to high, direct from Lionel, at $400 for the Legacy 990 Command system.  There are numerous places to view videos on how the system works and you can begin with the Lionel website.  The forum and YouTube have lots of information videos as well.

For state of the art engines the Lionel Legacys' sell for a low of $400 to upwards of $2200.00.   I have a great Legacy Union Pacific heritage SD70ACe that I paid $404.99 new in the box and a new Legacy GP7 at $399.00. Now that takes some shopping research, but they are out there.

Thank you for an estimated range on the low end around $750 for Lionel. Your response is why I am asking experienced shoppers whereas I am not experienced in this regard.
