Went apple picking yesterday at the Connor Farm in Danvers, Massachusetts with the grandkids. They had a train ride there that featured this interesting locomotive.

I never got a chance to talk to the engineer, but it looks like about a 1/4 scale replica and in excellent condition.

That's an interesting locomotive.  I wonder if it is a commercially-built park railroad engine, or of it was custom-built at the direction of the apple farm.

The cab door is practical.  However, the forward-facing door handle causes me to have some safety concerns.  It looks like it is just waiting to snag a belt loop or a pair of overalls if somebody walks past it too closely.

You're right about the forward facing handles, although they are "inside" of the railings and would be difficult to snag. There's also fencing along most of the route, except where passengers get on and off.

Unfortunately, it was just before lunch and the kids were antsy and I couldn't stay to talk. We may be back for pumpkin picking in a month or so and I'll find more out then.
