One of the Grand Old toy train makers! Interesting oscillating steam cylinder loco presumably powered by alcohol fuel (?). Fascinating rails embedded in a wooden "roadbed" for track. THANKS for sharing such a definite rarity!

Carey always has the GOODS! Two questions: Is that gauge 2 track and is the passenger car also Beggs?
Hello all ..... oil burner ... using denatured alcohol...gauge 1 7/8" ... yes Beggs tracks ... 7 sections for a circle ... they did make larger engines 4-4-0 Americans ....with a swiveling front truck for use on straight track .... of course 7 sections for a circle is an issue ..... no worries cut one of the curves in half ...now you can add the straights ...
the bigger engines and straights and fairly hard to find compared to this model ....
great fun ..the bugger really goes!
And that passenger car? I am guessing Beggs only made locos?

7 sections! How unusual! I guess this was before straights and switches appeared. It was a circle or nothing.

Gauge ...1 7/8" ....that is a Beggs/ MC Nair litho car 1907-10....
Tender is earlier 1890's ...
Later I'll run the earlier Beggs 1890's ..engine looks pretty much the same ..but the earlier,cars had cardboard bodies .

Eugene Beggs was the first toy train maker to offer sectional track in the US, though limited to a circle.
Yes and no ...first to offer sectional track ...but Beggs did offer straights ...for the bigger engines ..,440's .....one curve cut in half ...to obtain 180 degree turn around ...add straights ..so an oval ..,..straights are pretty hard to find ...compared to the standard curve sections
