Hi all,

Seeking your expertise, as I am a recent convert to 3-rail O from them-thar other scales who shall remain nameless.

As I have a preference for 0-27 Track profile, what are the best larger radius switches?

I'm going with 0-42 minimum on the layout, which equates to the largest reverse loop i can jam into its allowed space. Old stuff, new stuff, scratch-built; all suggestions appreciated.

Ross Custom switches are the best quality switch for O gauge. You will need adapter pins for use with 027 track and not O gauge adapter pins. You can get the switch with either a DZ-1000 or DZ-2500 switch motor, the DZ-1000 is the more basic switch motor and the DZ-2500 is for use with command control.

K-Line makes an 042 switch but it is in 031 style(031 is a larger rail height then 027 track) of tubular track.

Lionel switches are very bad for breakdowns! Also the Lionel 042 switch housing will get in the way of larger freight cars and engines.

K-Line made the best in an O-42 switch in O-27(matching the height and profile of all 027 track) as model numbers K-275 & K-276. The earlier editions had large switch motor housings with Chicago AF style lamp hoods. The last production runs were made with the low profile DZ style switch machines.

The similar full "O" track height/profile versions are K-375 and K-376.

I'll second Lee's post. I just sold him an extra one of mine also! Ross is the best in quality and service.
