Best assembly methods for Korber and river leaf models

Have not built any of the Korber structure kits...

Pretty easy for River Leaf kits - just follow the instructions.  They are actually useful vs. all too many of the other laser cut structure kits that I have built.

For Korber - Alan Graziano said it best. Use super glue (Rich Redman recommends Gorilla glue in a bottle with the light blue tip) then run a bead of hot glue along the inside seam. The hot glue adds plasticity to the otherwise brittle super glue joint. Rich recommends the gorilla glue above since it has plasticizes already mixed in.

Use Gorilla super glue, and (YES) hot glue for extra strength, I also use 23 gauge pin nails but that's not necessary. The Gorilla super glue and hot glue will be good enough, make sure you use the square stock provided in the kit for your corners.

Hi Brad,

I find the best thing to do when you have a warped section is to heat it up with a hair dryer or heat gun, as the heat hits the section you will see it start to straighten out. If the section warps more just put the heat on the opposite  side of the section until it straightens out, then i just place small weights on the section for a day.

For River Leaf  Models structures you need:

Carpenter glue, acrylic paint, dull cote and spackling paste.

The structure is thick to keep squareness during the gluing process.

We recommend tidebond III carpenter glue, because cure fast but give to you some time to check and fix the quadrature.

The material used (MDF) doesn't need any type of primer or sealer before painting.

Paint all the pieces before assembly, except the main structure.

The River Leaf kits are a joy to put together.  Everything fits very well!

Another way to deal with warped sections is to add 1/2" square wood to either the front and rear or the side sections prior to assembly. These should be clamped and glued. Once dried, you can assemble the building--again using clamps to pull it together.
