I'm just finishing my FastTrack layout and need to clean all of the track including switches.  I have been told that the best method is to wipe it down first with denatured alcohol, then when it evaporates, buff it with Scotch-Brite pads.  Is this reasonable and safe and are there any specifics regarding the pads and the alcohol?

Secondly, I want to clean, oil and grease all 9 of my TMCC engines' wheels and pickup rollers which have been in storage for quite some time, as well as those on my rolling stock.  I have a Dremel which would make shorter work of this job.  Where can I buy a scotch-brite type attachment that is gentle enough to do so?  Should I clean with any solvent before brushing?

Finally, how often should I do a thorough cleaning?  Thanks in advance for any help.
