Thanks for your support and for encouraging members to visit.  We thoroughly enjoy meeting other members, answering questions and sharing ideas.  Our layout has expanded significantly since we last displayed.  We had a nice crowd today and hope to meet more of you tomorrow.

I don't recall reading a single word about a Black Hall layout this time around.

No kidding! I just returned from 2 days at York and never knew it. I did view the one in the White Hall.

Every hall had a sign taped on the doors that said to be sure to view the layout in the black hall. I dont know what was secret about it.

Really?  As I recall, there was no layout in the Black Hall in April.  Maybe I just missed it.

As for this current meet, they sure would be wise to let people know about their presence well in advance on this and other forums.  I also don't recall seeing anything about a Black Hall layout in the York Registration booklet.

I liked the Hornby layout, never saw 3 rail "HO" track before and the trains were something different from what we usually see even if it wasn't very big. Would be kind of neat to see something like this but with the MTH European stuff.

I have been very tempted to buy one or two of the MTH HO locomotives fitted for Marklin 3-rail operation.  I have a whole lot of the track (along with a whole lot of Marklin trains), and would like to put some of it to use if I can free-up some space.

I didn't know the layout was in the Black hall until someone mentioned it to me, so then I went in to see it.  There were not many people viewing it.  This was one of the places where I thought it was REALLY stupid not to allow photos!  I understand in the busy places, but I think there were three or four people looking when I was in there on Friday.  Obviously, the word didn't get out, but I did notice the signs on the other locations after seeing it about the display in the Black hall.

Also, half of Black Hall was closed off. I didn't look to see what was occupying the closed-off space, but if it was unused, the entire hall could have held all three layouts.

I think* the White Hall layouts are there to occupy space that's going unused from shrinkage in the number of members buying tables.

Last April was my first York show. I registered onsite and I asked where I could find the operating layouts and was told Black Hall. When I got to the hall it was closed and locked up.

Sorry to say I could not attend this October but happy to hear there were some layouts to view. I am already in planning mode for next April!

I agree (finally) about allowing photos in the black hall. I think the origional rule did not want to encourage taking a camera into the fairgrounds...but now, since so many 'phones can take photos, it is a moot point.

Since the modular group CAN take photos of the layout during off-hours, you could see photos of it on their website (assuming they have an active one).
