BNSF ICE COLD EXPRESS parts issue

I don't believe any of us on the forum have the parts either. I would send it back to Ro, maybe they would be willing to give you the caboose and manual out of another set and you could merely exchange the caboose. Call them and see what they can do, ranting over it here will accomplish nothing.

It is a bit hard to belive that a dealer would allow people to cannibalize unsold train sets.

The manuals might be offered in pdf form on the Lionel web site.

Amd just because you got a bum set that Lionel supplied Ro. Seems to be an issue to be worked out between the manufacturer (importer)and the retailer... not on the back of the customer.

Perhaps there are enough forum members between you and Charles Ro that could relay the set from location to location for an exchange without shipping charges.

On another thread a poster that had a defective BNSF set stated that Lionel replaced the entire set. Contact Lionel and see if they will replace the defective set.

The manual is available in PDF, and lionel said they would NOT replace the whole set.

My set is currently being replaced by Lionel. Everything about it had an issue. Engine had a few pieces broken off and a paint blemish on the cabs roof. One of the reefers was definitely packed broken bc there is no sign of damage on the outside of the individual box. Another reefer light was blinking and every single reefers truck would ground out on the center rail. My caboose also was missing paint in a small aera underneath. It was an unacceptable piece by all means.

Personally if I had your set I wouldn't send it back for a missing manual or smoke stack. Just wait until they are available. They will have replacements available shortly. I believe they have to correct all major problems first then slowly correct minor issues once they get boxes of replacement parts.

I had issues too with the new set. It seems there was a lot of damage due to rough packaging. The caboose ladder and railings was bent and broken, the interior load on the smoking reefer had broken off inside. The interior light on the sounds reefer was hanging loose, and a number of the couplers were misaligned due to packaging. The couplers were easy to fix. I haven't tried anything else as I am waiting for my distributor to contact me Monday or Tuesday. I have not tried to operate the set yet either, not wanting to make it harder for return or replacement.

Kudos to the forum for alerting me to make a detailed check.
