Today I went to Charles Ro and came home with the new Lionel ESE and a FEC ES44AC. My Christmas present to myself.
Yep. I have to send a thank-you E-mail to Midge and Andy at MTH for taking my suggestion to heart. My scale-wheeled Big Boy arrived Monday and I ran some track inspection tests at the club tonight. It found several bad spots, but it did negotiate 36" radius (O-72) curves, including a Ross turnout. It ran very smoothly with very good sounds. Can't wait until the prototype is operational and MTH makes a sound file from it. I'm going to put a Kadee on the rear and bring it back down Saturday, but the uneven spots in our track really drive this one nuts, so it will (for now) only make brief appearances at the club, but I know a couple of layouts where it should run nicely.

My amazing wife got me this Jim Jordan print for Christmas, one of the few prints made for the RR I model!
It's about 2X3 feet (you can see the lantern to the right, and to the left is a White Pass & Yukon RR rail slice, to hold it down from the rolled condtion) , so now I need to find someone to frame the thing for me.

Purely by chance, I found this store a town away from our home. They sell picture framing "kits" with everything you need, and custom make the frame to fit the size you need. Easy to do, and much less than a framing shop... google Poster Frame Depot in Derby Ct.... yes, they ship all sizes! I have no affiliation with them!

I've been concentrating lately on adding some variety to the freight car mix. Other RRs, types and colors.
Picked up the MTH PRR gondola & LCL Cement loads separately. Rock Island hopper from Lionel.
Always liked this graphic. Gotta love "the Rock"!
The Railking/Scaleking UP centrerbeam is scale sized and looks sharp. The D&H pulpwood car is from Atlas.

Nothing fancy but I did buy(cheaply) two Marx dome passenger cars-234 and the Observation car 236. All are in rough shape but salvageable, I think.
I got this brand new Williams ( 1990 ) never run, Camelback in Lacawanna markings.
Runs great!! Looks great!! Smokes great ( for a Williams that is )!!

Nice. I assume you're modeling a deep water port or large river on your layout? Is this going to be used in a WW2 context?

It's supposed to be just past tunnel # 2 going into the Doe River Gorge, right outside of Hampton, TN. The track still exists here (having been re-laid in the early 60s for a ill-fated tourist attraction and now rebuilt by the Christian camp that owns the entire property and former ET&WNC right of way) and I've ridden it in a motor car on two occasions: http://www.doerivergorge.com/
The problem is you wouldn't see any houses from this portion of the line, so it's artistic license.
I since realized I had a frame for another print I wasn't going to put back on the wall, which was a great color for this print and exactly fit it!
