The MTH 203436-1 Blue Goose SET, that is!

Jason’s Trains is out of them (I believe his price was $1050) but several other vendors still list (online) the set in stock for $1080. I have not called any of them yet to verify.

If any of them indeed has it in stock, would it be advisable to buy it now or wait until I go to York in October and look for one there, hopefully for a better price and no shipping?

Thanks!

Alex

That's likely true, but whether it will be in the price range quoted above or with a price tag several hundred over that is the real question.

The speculators read the boards as well, it's a good bet at least a few will have bought one of these in the hopes of flipping it for a profit at the meet.

York is a two way street, both bargains and hot items that are not bargains can be found.  (and even items that are not hot and over priced, but those tend to be the tables where you can ID the merchandise because you saw the exact same same stuff at the exact same table for the last 2-10(or more) meets).

I think Alex did the right thing if this is a "must have" set for him.

On a more serious note: York meet pricing patterns & supply is more a function of what the DJIA/RBOB is doing the first week of York month than what forum consensus is saying or retailer/wholesalers are doing @ this time of year. (Blood on the Street = liquidations in the Orange). Few forum types are usually interested in such mundane relationships so I won't consider boring anyone with such issues as the VIX or http://www.wtrg.com/daily/rbobgasolineprice.html  vs flocks of Blue Geese, Crocodiles or PW Warbonnets  @ Y10/2012.
