Calling All Lionel Pocahantas Owners - PROBLEM SOLVED!!!

I don't own one, this is not my video. This is video of the "separate sale" legacy J and it sure seems to show what you describe. Pausing the video at :20 its fairly obvious. At 1:36 it looks even worse.

Wow...It does not appear to line up correctly.

Looks like all you guys who've complained about Lionel's 18" passenger car  "windows" now have something else to focus on.  

 

FWIW, this has been "mismatched" for quite some time now.  It was like this on the TMCC version of 611J.  And not surprisingly also on the Legacy 612J, which was produced at the same time as the Legacy 611J that's packaged in the Pocahontas Set.

 

Can't say it ever really bothered me... But then neither did "the windows".

That's the exact video that shows it up close. I just looked at my 606 tender and it sure looks like they painted the stripe too high on this tender. 

 

Anyone have a photo?

             Nice youtube channel you've earned your 101st subscriber, keep up the good work! How's Legacy Station's prices? I live up in Mass so Charles Ro is the major train store. I also dealt with Gyrzyboski last week and bought some more diesel engines.

 

As for the Pocohantes, I don't have the set, but it's one of my favorites along with the ESE and Commodore Vanderbilt!

Looks like I'll have to ship my tender to Spencer, NC and have them paint the stripe in the right location when they stripe the prototype! How would that be for a color match to the Queen of the Fleet! May as well send the engine shell too!

Brian has treated me very well! I ordered this set when it first came out and prepaid 10% down. A year later I got tired of waiting and cancelled my order. Brian refunded my deposit. He also promised to call me when he got the set to check and see if I still might want it. I got a call 2 weeks ago. I declined. After watching the videos on YouTube and hearing the sounds, I called him Tuesday and he shipped it right out. He could have sold the set to me for a higher price but he held to the prepay amount. I'm very happy! Sure glad I didn't see the high stripe before I bought it. Can't say what I would have done. I own 2 606 engines w/ tenders. If it will work, I may swap one of the shells. 

Looking at the above poor examples, there appears to me that a couple of things are going on. The stripe may be too high and the loco may be too low.

 

In this picture it looks like the top of the cab isn't as high as it should be.

Here is my 606. Not bad, but, a little off.

 

 

Along with the plan (previous post) showing how the top of the cab should be higher than the top of the tender, judging by the line of the bottom of the cab compared to the stoker motor, it looks like the rear of the cab is too low and could use some raising.

 

 

Any mis-match is harder to see from this angle. Note the correct roll-top tender for the 606. ( Bug-eye class lights waiting to be replaced)   

 

 

How do any of the various MTH Premier N&W J Class models compare?

I saw a couple of photos of MTH J's -- can't recall where I saw them though -- and things match up noticeably better , if not perfectly, compared to the Lionel models.

I received this Lionel 612 engine as a separate in April of 2014 from Charlie Ro and sent it back, hoping that the passenger set with engine would be improved. I have not received the pre-ordered set from Charlie yet.

WOW, I do not know if my stripes match, however, I will soon. I get mine next week, weather permitting.  If there is a height difference, has anyone found a really nifty fix for it??? This should be a really nice Legacy Locomotive. Happy Railroading
