I have a K-line Mikado with TMCC and cruise that I am operating with a Legacy controller. It runs fine under Cab-1 mode, but I would rather run it under TMCC mode to use the icons instead of keypad display. Unfortunately, under TMCC mode the top speed is very slow. I have cleared the legacy speed limit. I set momentum to low. I tried the command to set 128 speed steps (DIR, BELL, AUX1, 2). Still only crawls. Any suggestions?

Bob you should use the R100 mode instead of TMCC mode. You'll loose the top 28 speed steps (do you really need them?) but you'll get the same screens as TMCC mode.
Ok sounds good. How do I set it? My only choices in the legacy controller are Cab1, TMCC, and Legacy. Running v1.3

Try pressing the speed boost button on the CAB1 to accelerate the engine to the desired speed. I run my K-Lines in TMCC mode and boost works well when the engine is in 128 step mode.
Bob you need to upgrade your Legacy system. Later versions have R100 which will give you 100 speed steps.
