I would like to know what the correct catalog number is for a Southern Pacific A-A units with the road number of 8260. I see they have Lionel Mt. Clemens, MI. on the underside. Thank you!!

Jeff,
Those F units were produced (1982) in an era when the road/cab number was usually also the catalog number.
Therefore, the catalog number was 6-8260, which came as a 8260/8262 A-A pair. An uncatalogued 6-8261 B unit, was available separately in late 1982 and is more scarce than the A-A pair.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for all that information!! Appreciate it!
And for future reference, you can use Google’s search engine to find such information easily. I typed Lionel Southern Pacific 8260 and got this result:

Regarding the old numbering system, life was certainly simpler then! TRW is right about the B unit - they can be pretty pricey. Gorgeous engines, BTW. I converted mine so they're TMCC/Railsounds equipped.
