This is an interesting announcement on a couple of fronts.
First, I'm still forever puzzled how/why the biggest 3-rail toy train company abandoned extruded aluminum passenger cars a couple of years ago... yet Charlie -- at least on first glance -- has no problem finding an overseas factory that will make nice aluminum cars in G scale.
Secondly, for roughly $300/car, Charlie is delivering G-scale aluminum passenger cars, yet that's also the same basic price-point that we're paying today for smaller O-scale cars when a company like GGD produces them. Seems the O-scale folks are always caught paying a premium.

The cost of making Aluminum cars is not in the size of the extrusion, it's in the window punch tools, truck side frames, interior and labor to paint them. G and O should be the same cost. Scott

I love the pricing. Let's do some math...
5 cars for $1399.95 = $279.990 per car.
8 cars for $2199.95 = $274.995 per car. Not a great volume discount, but it's something.
10 cars for $2799.95 = $279.995 per car.
Per car, it's cheaper to buy 8 rather than 10, and it's cheaper to buy two 5-car sets than one 10-car set. Only a dime, but still...
Sometimes I wonder if anyone checks this kind of thing before sending it out.
12 ft is the min for safe operation and they do run and look nice.
