I have two Lionel Christmas Display Aquarium Box Cars. They have stopped going around. Anyone have any idea how to fix them--or are these junk??? I put a little oil on the top & bottoms of the spindels. But they still are stopped. Any ideas anyone?? Thanks Guys.
I believe these are gear driven from the truck. Take the clear band off the spindle. Does the spindle turn when you move the car? If not, then the gears may not be meshing anymore. This would be a hard fix, truck replacement might be the only way to go. If the spindle is turning, then the band may be slipping. Clean the inside of the band with damp water. Do the same with the spindle. I would avoid any harsh cleaners. If band still slips, it may be stretched out and need replaced.
