Folks,

For those of you who have posted on the thread, "Mike Wolf to retire and close MTH," please direct your attention to Page 23 of the thread. You will see a long post where I advise everyone to be optimistic about the closure. I am writing to clarify about what I had really said.

So far, everyone has been thinking that there has to be a Richard Kughn who is extremely devoted to the company that he or she is willing to buy the entire manufacturer. But obviously that's not the case. And that is where we get into the point about transferring from "private to 'public' " ownership and I clarify what I had actually meant to point out.

What I meant by "public" ownership is that a private equity firm similar to Guggenheim Capital Partners (majority owner of Lionel) could become a future owner of MTH, or at least significant investors could help the current management team operate the company going forward. So, with that being said, in November of last year, I sent an email to Mr. Mike Wolf, which included a list of potential investment firms that might be interested and are similar to Guggenheim Capital Partners. Now REMEMBER, Mr. Wolf is probably already considering these kinds of companies. I only offered this list as a suggestion, in case he had not come across any of them. I will not share it because like @Trinity River Bottoms Boomer, I'm certain that the employees have been informed but are held to secrecy due to legal matters. The thing to do now is remain calm and await the announcement which you can be sure will be released as soon as it's made final to the OGR staff as Breaking News!

And so far, with the release of a new uncatalogued item and talks about DCS and the parts & service department living on as separate companies, I personally believe there is a bright future for MTH. And, IMHO, I personally believe that DCS and the parts & service department as separate companies just means separate departments in the new MTH (like Lionel has Depts. of Production, Mechanical Engineering, etc.), so to speak.

Sorry if I might have caused any confusion with that post, but I was just trying to be optimistic and in that process, I was loose with my words. Let me know what you think.
