Its actually not so daunting, and it can be done neatly.

The floor is mounted to the body in four locations by a press fit on four long posts similar to standee poles.  First take the trucks off so they aren't in the way and set aside.  Take the screws holding the black underfloor to the interior and set aside.

To get the black plastic floor off, you'll need to locate the mounting points - these are evident by finding the sink marks along the centerline of the floor and you can confirm location by looking inside the windows and finding the vertical posts that the flooris driven into.  Mark the stud locations witha pencil.  The black plastic is relatively soft, so once you find the sink marks and by hand drilling out the mounts with a 3/16" drill bit simply turn the bit by hand until it goes through the floor at the stud mount. Then the floor pops off.

I've made new mounts with screws and brass fender washers to keep the floor on once I've repainted the body or powered the car.
