I recently made a post asking for opinions on the cost of tooling for diesels. Now I am wondering if you guys have suggestions on the cost of containers, either by atlas or Lionel. 40’ 53, 20 etc.

Also do you guys think that in USA, container tooling would be under 10k?
Sorry, but you can't even come close to making container tooling overseas for $10k.

You mean to make little 1/48 scale shipping containers?
I don't think you would find yourself at the 10k mark. Probably still a bit higher, especially with the cost of tool steel. If you're interested in pursuing this, I recommend keeping an eye on industrial auctions after you learn roughly what your tooling might look like. You could pick up a similar sized die and have it re-machined (still pricey, if it's even possible) or you could get very lucky and just find a chunk of tool steel at auction for a decent price. That'll get you material and then you could work on affording the labor. In other words, don't give up! (if you're pursuing your own tooling)
