One of my favorite places to shoot is at the Cumberland CSX locomotive Shops.

There is a very nice article in the March Issue of Trains Magazine featuring the shop,

with photos like this one contained in the story.

CSX LOCO SHOP

This is the rear of the shop. Most of the engines on the left are waiting for more extreme

repairs. The new white addition is the inspection/wash building.

The brick building contains the heavy crane, and also the inspection pits, the wheel

truing machine, and various metal working machinery.

On one page, there is a photo of John Felton, who ran the shop many years.

I met him at an open house one time. (when they used to have them) Very nice guy. We talked trains a bit, and I found out he still has his Lionel Santa Fe F's and streamlined

passenger cars he received as a youngster! He's near retirement now, I've

heard.

Spent alot of time hanging on the fence looking in back in my FSC college days during the Seventies...nice to see the facility's still open and in use.  Between there and the Cumberland airport watching Kelly-Springfield's corporate jet (MU-2) fly in and out, burned off alot of free time...miss those days.
