I know there are tons of railroaders out there who create fictional rail lines for their layout (ex East Allegheny Rail Lines, or Frank and Johns RR).  Have many of you ever custom painted your locomotives with your fictional colors and logos?  If you did what colors did you pick and why.  Pictures would be cool too.  I personally never have but I think it could be a cool idea.  I'd probably use base of deep purple with yellow highlights, not really sure though.

Me too, a work in progress.  I have my main up and going, 231 feet work, but haven't yet built staging yards...need $1500.00!  Still searching for money tree!

Semi fictional ok?????

I am a Chessie fan....but bought two WbB Dash-9 locos. I repainted both in CSX for my 'modern' train. But I had to make them more Chessie than prototype.....so I made my decals and added 'The Cat'!

Paints for the most part are automotive and hobby paints.

I do have a custom built and painted locomotive for my Gotham Railroad.....

For my fictional Gotham RR somewhat based on the animated TV show which featured heavy use of black and gray....so I used it on my model too.

(HO scale but don't tell anyone.....may do it in O too!!)

Dave - I was so confused at your CSX-Chessie Loco, its such a neat concept. I also dig the custom loco.  It has such a harsh look to it.  It reminds me old USSR Propaganda.

DK - I love how realistic your color schemes and patterns appear to be.  The Weathering on your gondola and caboose really ties it all together.  I'm really impressed.  Thanks for sharing.

My rail road is my screen name.

This is a MTH auxiliary tender that was painted to match my LionMaster Cab-Forward.  i relettered and striped the Cab-Forwards tender for Lionel Lines.  This auxiliary tender carries the same stripe, but reads Michigan & Ohio Valley Lines.

I have a few diesels that I will paint for my road, but haven't decided on the final color schemes.  I like the colors of the Ohio Central and the colors of the SD60 Demonstrator, but haven't committed to either.  My Lionel AC6000 will be painted red-white-blue as a patriotic paint scheme.  Forum member Frank Swafford came up with a nice design for me and I will use it.  I just just haven't gotten to that project yet.

Pretty basic paint job here for my Michigan and Great Lakes.  I had the decals custom made.

As of right now I have 3 locomotives painted in these scheme.  I have another ten wheeler I plan to use some decals that are white to repaint in the railroads older scheme.  It will be heavily weathered and parked behind the engine house as an old locomotive that is out of service.

Michigan & Ohio Valley - I love the blue and orange together.  It has the pop that I'm thinking about going for with the purple and yellow.  Its also really nicely done, love how crisp everything looks.

Jdevleer - I was hoping someone would post some custom line names on steam engines.  I like how simple it is.  It's exactly how it would actually be.  Even prototypical steam engines that are colored seem strange to me.  Great job with the LOGO also, I could easily see this out on the tracks.

Hartman - My initial thought was to go with green and white.  I like the Line name, though I might be partial due to being from the north hills of the burgh
