Yes... That is possible too.  You can buy LED bulbs that will fit the existing sockets, but that can be pricey depending on how many you have.  Here is the base of the MTH bank.

You can also retrofit an LED Christmas light if you have the time and like to do that sort of thing.

In the pic below, the bayonet bulb on the left was purchased.  The one on the right had the regular bulb taken out and an LED Christmas light installed.  Don't forget the resistor... Or it won't last long.

You can also completely remove the stock lights and replace with an LED string. 

I purchased these mini lights on Christmas clearance.

I like these LED lights that come on a roll.  Easy to use and they can be cut every third light for nice customization.

Remember, LEDs prefer DC power to get the most life out of them.
