Diaphragm for 21” Empire State Express Observation Car

The one like this, without the side door, are still in the Lionel parts site. The ones with the side door are NLA.

Better look again. These diaphragms are different than the ones in the original picture.

How so Roy? Its just a different angle, not a different full width diaphragm.

I have both 18 and 21” Lionel ESE cars. The diaphrams are interchangeable.
I just don’t know what end Jim needs for his car, vestibule or no vestibule. I only have a 21” SS diner.

The diaphragms in the original post are full width - they go out to the edge of the car. The diaphragms in the parts picture you posted do not go all the way out to the edge of the car. At least, that is how it looks in the picture.

Little late to the party here, but I believe some of the cars in the 21” Broadway Limited cars from 2016 might have the type full width diaphragm you are looking for, specifically the stationsounds diner 2-pack (6-83002). Sorry - I have no idea how to find parts!!! Unfortunately, mine are packed away, and this is the only photo I could find of the diners - you should be able to see the black diaphragms between the two first cars.

It looks like the part image diaphragm is different than the car breakdown image diaphragm. Lionel error?

Silver with side doors. Its available. When all else fails there is paint but no need in this case.
