Did Your Valentine Give You A Train Related Gift Today?

Lucky....in the immortal words of Charlie Brown..."I got a rock"

Sort of... She does get me a lot of train related items as gifts. This year she got me an 85mm lens for my Nikon Camera so I can take great Train Pictures!

We haven't exchanged gifts yet but I'm pretty sure I will receive the love and affection of my sweet wife of 20 years and perhaps a card.  No complaints!

 

Not sure if the thought of a train related gift would occur to her.

 

 

 

Not today, but I did the inverse .I made my then fiancé , now wife a Valentines day car  with her name on it ,as a gift while we were dating.

A train related gift? You're FUNNY!!!

No but the USPS lady delivered a Legacy SOUTHERN U30c while my Valentine was away for the day. (It was flown in under the radar) Now she's home and cooking up some fresh fried cod and fried shrimp for me - and she doesn't like seafood.

I need to find a Valentine sweetie first...someone a bit closer (and more honest) than those Russian "ladies" who keep sending me e-mail.  

I'm not Russian, but I did wonder why my emails didn't always seem to reach you. 

 

I didn't get any Valentine's day cards or gifts either. But then again, I'm well past my 'Best before' date, so I wasn't expecting any.

Yes.  I got a Lionel 3461 log dump car.  I've had a green one for years, but for some reason never got the black one.

No, but she did buy me a walk-in Jacuzzi tub for my arthritis - definitely true love!

A gift certificate from my LHS!

Nothing.  But I'm sure she would have bought the Rolair JC10 compressor that arrived today if she had known I wanted it.  First chore for the Rolair is Hurricane Sandy recovery but I'm hoping to adapt and do some airbrushing at some point in the future.  That should be fun.. ahem.

Was hoping to get a Valentine from Lionel in the form of their RTR 2013 catalog on line today!

Nope.  No train gifts.  As a matter of fact it was reversed roles.  I had today off and the boss had to work.  We didn't want to go out so I whipped up a nice Valentine dinner:

Couple of cocktails to start

Shrimp Cocktail

Marinated NY fillets

Garlic Mashed potatoes

Fresh asparagus in butter sauce

A nice Cabernet from the wine cellar.

 

I also sent her a Red Velvet Valentine's cake to her office.

 

Went to the local florist and bought a  nice bouquet for the dinner table.

 

No trains...but it was a very nice meal!

Not sure what to think! My bride of 31 years left one of those tasty chocolate oranges on my wheelchair. Problem is she knows I am diabetic!

think she might be getting me a late train related thing later on this week.but she did treated me to a sirloin steak dinner tonight..

I figured I would not be getting any train related items for Valentines Day. My wife is not into trains other than the fact she likes that I have something I enjoy. That in itself is a Valentine gift. She shows enthusiasm when I yell up "honey come down and see what I did on the layout". I'm guessing the eyes may roll a bit as she goes back upstairs but she is very supportive. She even let's me know of local shows and displays in advance. She is willing to walk through the woods to see an old train trestle.  She brings me a snack now and then.  She doesn't flinch when I carry in bags of train stuff, she even helps.

 

I guess the real answer is yes she did give me a gift and does so every day. She still won't wear the pink train hat....

No, but we had a nice meal and went to church.

This is the mill from our Forum member Alex that my wife gave me for Valentine's Day. This beautiful building has caused me to rethink an area on my layout in order to accommodate this structure. This is a good thing as I just needed a push to redo an area that is about 24 ft. by 7 ft. I am going to take what is basically a passenger train storage yard and make it into a large passenger train station complex. The mill will be placed at the edge of this area with a water feed from my existing waterfront area. I am looking forward to this project.

Well, I feel gyped...I got a card...something about how she tolerates my idiosyncrasies and how she doesn't have any that she knows of{the hallmark cards they make now-a-days!} and her visit from aunt flow..."a poor day for model trains!" I'm going back to messing with the model trains and maybe the "other wife", as she calls it,...my '40 plymouth sitting in the garage....there's always next year I guess...

It's been my opinion that as we get "wiser"{no- not older}, we age like a fine wine and simply get better! Problem is I think my wife looks at me as Boones farm!....we have a saying here in house, I say I have 2 kids..a son and a daughter....my wife says she has 3 kids...a son, a daughter and her husband....growing wiser isn't an option...growing up is!
