I bought this a few years back off ebay used. No box or docs.

Nice locomotive and I'd like to find some side truck detail parts but not sure of brand or model to search for. They are just getting old and brittle and could use refreshing.

I'm thinking Williams but not sure. No brand markings anywhere I can find which seems odd. You'd think they would put their name someplace on it.

Also the sound works too well and needs volume turned down. No adjustable parts I can find. Pulled all the boards and looked. I thought about an adjustable pot in front of the speaker. Would that work? The sound takes the room over its so loud.

My guess is either Weaver or MTH.    The construction with the stamped the chassis and china block ddrives looks like theirs.    And since it is a GP38, I am going to say Weaver would be my first guess.    I have not idea whose sound bouards they used for 3 rail stuff, or it could be after market  install.

Question to Mr. Reagan,

Is there a correct way for me to adjust the volume down some? I'd rather do it right if there is a right way. I like this loco too much to jury rig anything if it can be helped.

I got this one Mike....

Look along the edge of the board and locate a 3 prong connector with the center and one of the outside pins jumpered.  This sets the volume at max.  Remove the jumper and connect a 10K pot to the three prongs with the pot wiper in the center.  Now you have volume control.
