I am trying to get an early 806 Northern running. The loco has a Chicago Flyer reverse unit. The field is grounded instead of both leads working through the e-unit similar to post war Flyer. Everything bench checks fine. Field is good, armature is good. E-Unit has new finger contacts and drum. All leads have continuity. I get no activity at all, no attempt to run. Looking in vain for a wiring diagram. Original wiring had the field lead going to one inner contact, hot from center rail going to the other inner contact, and the brushes to the outer contacts. Lionel reverse units are wired in reverse where the brushes are wired to the inner contacts, and the field and pick up to the outer. Any other suggestions, can anyone offer a wiring diagram? Dennis?

Figured it out. Wire it like a simple Lionel. Brushes to the contacts running on the inside of the drum, field and center rail pick up to the contacts running on the outside of the drum. The problem was the E unit armature was not quite throwing the drum forward quite enough. One of the contact fingers looked like it was making contact but it was not.
