ERR Mini-Commander in Aux Tender Lash-Up with Legacy Engine

I did this only once. I set both boards to the same engine ID. You could wire the aux tender coupler to the front coupler socket and hit front coupler if you wanted the aux tender coupler to open since I assume there is no working front coupler on the engine. Rear light to the rear light connector should work when you are in reverse.

Pete, no, the lead engine doesn't have a front coupler and that is a great idea to have full coupler function!  I'll give the same engine ID a go and see what happens.

Using the same engine ID had the same results.  I've also tried making the tender the lead, and setting the Legacy engine to TMCC.  All with the same result.

You should be able to set the tender on the track by itself and activate the light and coupler. If not its an issue with the mini commander.

Pete, the tender does work fine by itself, excepting no front light.  I still can't get the ERR board to go into configuration mode to get that light to work.

Are you using an LED for the light? You may have put a small capacitor or resistor across the LED, say 250 ohms. If you are using a incandescent bulb then something is wrong with board.

It's an LED, but I think it has a resistor already wired into it.  The rear one lights just fine, and if I switch plugs on the ERR board, the front one lights fine.  I just can't get the "L2" socket on the board to work like it should.  I've also now noticed I don't get the flashing light when the board is supposed to be in program mode.  I can't get it to light with either the soft programming method or by toggling the switch I installed per the instructions.  I'm thinking I'm not doing something right and it may just not be entering the programming mode.
