a couple days ago, I bought a new remote turnout to replace one that was sparking (more on that later). As luck would have it, I needed to move the switch stand to the opposite side of the switch. After a couple tries, I got it engaged correctly and buttoned down only to find that the switch would only move in one direction. After removing about a bazillion screws holding the backplate, I discovered that the pushrod from the solenoid had popped out of the bell crank that moves the points. Looking closer, I found that the mounting screw for the bell crank was loose which allowed the bell crank to move enough to allow the pushrod to disengage. Easy fix and now things are back to normal. As for the switch that was sparking…I still don’t know what was causing it, but when I opened the back, the tiny “whisker” wire attached to the part that slides had burned through leaving a burn mark on the plastic. I don’t know what the wire’s function was, but the frog was not moving with the switch. Hmmmm. Sorry this is so long, but I maybe someone else has experienced these things.
