I use the single crimp non-insulated female quick-disconnect in the .110 size- sized accordingly for the feeder wire awg

Mcmaster Carr terminals

I find that they fit better than the insulated type. Caution is required as some locations can cause a hot to overhang the common tie bar for outside rails. They also require and different crimper.

So, here's the insulated type

Carl, both your links bring up Lionel support.  Wonder why?

I was doing other stuff and I must not have cleared the clipboard -

I hope this works - McmasterCarr - non-insulated terminals  14-16awg

insulated 14-16

use the .110 size for the wire gauge that you use

edit: They don't work properly to get to the exact item- had to fix the links

It's electrical & lighting - electrical connectors - terminals - non-insulated quick disconnect terminals - then specific size and type

I don't use the .110, I prefer the .080 female disconnect 28-6082 from MCM.  They fit tighter and are less prone to loosening over time.  I crimp and solder the feeders to them with no issues.  I don't bother with shrink tube on them.  If one gets too close to a buss bar, I just place electrical tape on the bar.

FWIW, I use 18 AWG feeders every 6-8 feet.  Never had an issue.
