Favorite Passenger Car?

I'm a dome car man.  When I was 12 we rode the train from back east to Salt Lake City, and I spent lots of time in the dome car, very cool!

Dome cars for me. Although I've never ridden in one, certainly hope to someday!

I guess the observation with a dome would be the best.

Don't think I ever saw an observation car with a dome, but that would bubble to the top of my list if I saw one.

Darn tootin'! Now THAT is a DOME CAR. We had that car, and it's two other stable mates, on the rear end of our train from Portland, OR to Minneapolis, MN behind SP 4449, enroute to Train Festival in Mich., back in 2009. The car owners had Doyle and I back there for lunch, one day. Nothing like 60+ MPH, behind 4449 and a free lunch! Spectacular riding car, too.

Now THAT was what the Cal. Z was all about,,,,,,five dome cars. 

Beautiful car, but not really considered a dome car.

The good Lord gave me an opportunity to ride the observation platform of the DE VICO (one of 3 BLUE COMET observation cars) from Newark to Phillipsburg, NJ, in regular service. I'll nominate that as my favorite car. When I wiped my face with my handkerchef afterward, my handkerchief turned black. That is the reason for solarium cars, I guess.

For me, it has to be the "Mountain View". Certainly a classic design.

As far as real life interest, for me it is the Pullman Green Heavyweight Observation Cars of the famous named trains, must have lighted drumhead and polished hand rails. The Santa Fe Chief comes to mind. For me.

In the toy train world, Golden Gate Depot, as well as the 18in Lionel Heavyweights have captured the feel of the Heavyweight Observations Era very well.

favorite passenger car is stored at the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania, Strasburg, Pa.

I never called it a dome car......title of post was 'Passenger car' and I THINK this one qualifies......if not plez educate me.....

Oh boy I am a sucker for the old time Pullman cars. Labelle makes a few nice kits, but why they are not done already to run by Lionel or MTH go figure! I like the ones that have closed vestibules...

Well I'm truly sorry! A few of us where apparently discussing DOME cars and DOME OBSERVATIONS.

No issue here.....thought I had misread the thread title even after re-reading it a few times. I just replied with my favorite passenger car......

I also thought it was just our favorite passenger car.  Some mentioned observation cars, some Pullman heavyweights and some dome cars.  They are all good!

For me, I actually like articulated passenger cars the best, especially the Daylight Chair and Diner cars.
