The magic of cardboard, paint, sawdust, glue, and salt!

I am interested to learn what other OGR Forum members from around the country have in regards to fire department handmade Christmas Garden houses.

I purchased the two houses pictured in these photos about 7 years ago at an antiques and collectibles flea market in Westminster, Maryland. They are about 4" x 5" in footprint, larger than the cardboard Christmas village houses made in Japan.

According to my father, whose 84-years of knowledge and experience I trust, these were hand-made by fire department personnel and their families and sold around the holidays as a fundraiser for the firehouses. He even had an work colleague from Baltimore who once worked for the city's fire department and had the sheet metal templates that were used for cutting the cardboard sheets to construct the houses.

Please share some photos of them. I am curious to see the variety of these buildings that have survived.
