Fox Trucks, Period of Cl.1 Operation?

Fox trucks weren't "replaced" by archbar trucks; they existed concurrently. Fox trucks were used from about 1890 to about 1910. Afer that, they simply fell out of favor, and were used less and less. Some freight cars in museums still have them.

Arch bars were banned December 1, 1939, with a grace period until June 1, 1940 to return empties to their owners.

cars, etc.  What this tells me is I can gleefully go on using archbars on a layout

dated 1940, and after, for "captured" rolling stock.  We need Central Valley cranking

out O scale versions of their former HO trucks, eiyh more caboose and other variations.

Those Fox truck kits are fantastic....but should be for $75!!

Wish someone would make a affordable set of Fox....Weaver level detail and price.

Yes, the AHM "Casey Jones" 4-6-0 tender utilized Fox trucks. To me, they definitely say "Turn of the century Railroading!"
