Thanks, Rob, that is a terrific little article. I was away from this forum for close to 15 years. I just started reading it again a few weeks ago. Searching for Frank, I was saddened to see that Fred Dole had died. I did some drawings for him and the magazine back in the 90s and got to know him a bit. I remember he bought a lot of original Delta Lines buildings when they came on the market. This was a while ago. I was tempted myself. Do we know what happened to the buildings he had?

Hello all ...Fred Dole wanted all the Ellison pieces he had collected to remain together. I was very fortunate to be able to purchase the collection ...currently working them into my layout ...which is outside 3rd rail just like Delta Lines.

Original buildings in the collection

Sanky Coffee

Packing house and cattle pen

Chick Sale

Raymondale Brass works

Schmaltz Malts

Ginia station used in Raymondale partial rebuild

Ford's pottery

Bills Oil

1/2 of Small, arms ..building  on layout a full reconstruction

Hamm Berger

Oblong Box

Canning Co

Richmond Barrel,

Several,back drops from various towns

Considering the many moves Delta Lines went through it is amazing these precious cardboard buildings have survived.

My layout is still a work in progress ..

Always looking for addition pieces of Delta Lines add to the layout and retain as much of Delta Lines together as possible .

Please see Facebook site for much more information and lots of photos .

Thank you .

I grew up in New Orleans from 1949 - 2004 and was not aware of the Delta Lines when I was a boy. Sure wish we had seen the layout back then and joined the club as I was very interested in our trains - Santa brought a Gilbert Flyer K5 Pacific No 310 for Christmas 1949.  Not much info available back then so my Dad never encountered anyone who knew about Frank and his layout...

Interesting article, thanks for sharing
