Finally finished changing an MTH B&O Mikado over to Frisco #4018 today - did a K-Line caboose to match. While it doesn't have the high running boards, the trailing truck is different, the sand dome for the numbers, and the class lights are on the front of the boiler, instead of the top, it is close enough for me. The #4018 was located at the Fairgrounds in Birmingham for decades before being moved, cosmetically restored, and placed by Sloss Furnaces in downtown Birmingham. Now tons of people get to see it. I think it may have been the last Frisco steamer in service, or maybe in the Birmingham area. I've been wanting a Frisco steamer for a while, my grandfather worked for Frisco before joining the Navy in WW2 and his father worked for Frisco before him. Now I have one and it's local!
The number boards on the headlight and reverse light were too difficult and too small for me to individual put on each number, so I just printed out the number on the printer and glued them on. I am happy with how those turned out. The number plate below the headlight was made from a thin piece of plastic sanded down. I used some of those dry transfer numbers from Woodland Scenic for it. I ran across some Frisco decals on Ebay made by K4 - they shipped quick and worked well! I used the Microscale decals for the caboose.
