Railmonkey,

MTH made a total of 3 locomotives with the side lighting: The Evo Hybrid, an EMD Demo ES44AC and a special edition ES44AC in MTH colors. I made a video of the Hybrid and Demo lashed up. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9EAPyHVB7ts

Hope I helped,

Good Day Greg,

For the record, There are no EMD Demo ES ES44AC's. The ES44AC's are a product of General Electric.

Respectfully,

Frank

Greg, cool carpet layout.  Looks like a good size layout.  Thanks for posting video.

To clarify, all 4 of the above are correct. But there are soon going to be 2-GE EVO's, 1-GE EVO in Premier and 1-RailKing Imperial, which I linked to above (scheduled for Apr '14 shipping). FWIW, MTH is also making an HO version this year. Could be as many as 6, depending on how you want to count them.

It will have the charging lights, it's in big bold print in the catalog. (Checked before I ordered it too.)  Put me in the sucker for lights category too, the only one I don't have is the DAP (DCS decals) version.

Now if I could just afford/find the Lionel GEVO & CP diecast versions... Those were pricy when new and much more pricy now, if you can find one!

Railmonkey,

Here are the MTH numbers for the  GE ES44AC's:

1) 20-2986-1  GE Evolution Hybrid Set {Light Green and Blue}

2) 20-20313-1 GE Demonstrator {Dark Green and Blue} - Uncataloged

3) 20-20314-1 MTH Rail Road Club ES44AC {MTH Purple and Yellow - GE Demo Scheme}

4) 20-20316-1 MTH Service Station Special ES44AC {MTH Purple and Yellow w/Silver Nose - DCS Logo  -  pseudo CSX/Reading and Northern scheme}

Note: these are all three rail.

I was fortunate enough to get the RRC and SSS units.

I hope this helps you find what you are looking for.

Well....it's not listed on the features or even alluded to on the MTH official website which is what I was going by.   http://www.mthtrains.com/content/30-20168-1

Glad it states it on the the catalog  you're ordering from...good luck!

If I remember correctly, I don't think the charging lights were listed on the web page for the Premier version either.  I think that was also in the catalog?

Appreciate everyones responses. I can tell you it's muddy waters out there tho. I used the numbers given above, in fact there is one fella on ebay with 4 units now using the number above and when I asked he said they didn't have the running lights. I mean what the ****, I use the numbers given above and it's wrong  I did order the Ge unit from elsewhere and even on the mth website the running lights are not mentioned. Even for a model I have picture of with these lights, it's not mentioned on the box or anywhere. But I hope to have one shortly so life is good! Actually that is why I asked originaly, it's not clear what models have these lights. The web site from mth does not say running lights or whatever?  Before some posts a link I don't care, it was not obvious to me at the time I was looking. Hey I'm not angry, just confused, someone hold me......

I can definitely confirm that the above two locomotives (I didn't go back to check the catalog numbers) have the charging lights.  I have both of those units.

I tend to like demo units because they can be considered plausible operating on any layout (with any road name) so long as the eras are correct…kind of as if "your" railroad was giving them a test prior to placing a possible order.

I had an opportunity to purchase the two MTH-specific units, but passed on the opportunity simply because they do not match a plausible road name.

Maybe this will help you:

Go to the MTH website, down at the lower right hand corner of the opening web page there is a box with a heading of VIDEO. Click on the VIDEO Box. There you will find  videos of the 4 GEVO's listed below, all showing the charging lights. There is also a video of the HO version.

1) 20-2986-1  GE Evolution Hybrid Set {Light Green and Blue}

2) 20-20313-1 GE Demonstrator {Dark Green and Blue} - Uncataloged

3) 20-20314-1 MTH Rail Road Club ES44AC {MTH Purple and Yellow - GE Demo Scheme}

4) 20-20316-1 MTH Service Station Special ES44AC {MTH Purple and Yellow w/Silver Nose

(Just watched these videos again, I had forgotten that #3 & 4 on the list have purple charging lights. Mine, #3 has been packed since last August, we moved. Others have green lights.)

My LHS has verified with MTH that the catalog is correct about the Railking version 30-20168-1 having the charging lights as well.
