GGD sure knows how to make a fantastic product at a great price!

Incredible looking passenger cars. 

I do wish the builder could have made the characteristic Budd ends; its a cost saving measure I'm sure. It's a balancing act I can imagine between what areas to reduce to gain in others. These cars could have easily cost north of a $500 a model. Trucks look right! CUDO, 41N, and the diner's very own 6 wheel trucks.

This is the very first time we have such an accurately done High Level series of cars in O scale.

Just some observations.. Not critical but look at this as a positive look what GGD did right! 2 Thumbs up guys! And this was from a pixelated photo. I need to capture one in the studio to really show it off! It's worth it Scott!

Venting is superb. Photo etched?




No doubt close especially with the full height striker plates. I wish he could have evolved the end detail to better match Budd's vertical collision posts and characteristic Budd ends. Tool is EXPENSIVE, I know.

What can I say I'm nuts.

I want to see the best we can in this hobby.

A superb example image of the build methodology Budd on the left; PS on the right. The electrical conduits and grab irons can be modified and added. This particular Budd High Level is a transition coach. Worth noting AMTK used these well into 2000's.

GGD does a great job at a price point within reach for hobbyist that want more than the other manufacturers are producing (not meant in a negative way, either). 

 

GGD is the 'middle step' between the generally produced cars and the high end, exclusive, high price brass stuff (which I can't afford ).

 

I can't wait to see these cars and the new Harriman passenger cars.

I am so excited for this set to arrive.  When I saw the flyer yesterday morning, I was amazed at how well the cars turned out.  Can't wait to run my 11 car set at my operating club.

21" cars are not my preference, but I've made a couple of exceptions:  most notably the Atlas-O CZ  and the GGD El Capitan.  I sent in a "standby" order for the 8-car El Capitan set plus one RPO and one extra coach, and was pleasantly surprised to get a confirmed response for the 8-car set.    The other 2 extra cars are still on standby, so I'll just keep my fingers crossed for now!!!  Worst case scenario, I settle for the 8-car set.  Life is still good.

 

Now the real question is will my GGD order arrive BEFORE my Atlas-O CZ domed observation car arrives.    It's already a sure-certainty that this set will arrive before the Atlas-O CZ baggage car shows up.

I too received an email, I reserved the (8) car set and (2) add on cars, and can't wait for them to arrive as well. The cars look great!

Not sure Early 2003 is "well into", but semantics aside, 5 of the lounges remain in service (The 6th appears to be in storage) as the Coast Starlight "Pacific Parlour" cars. At one point I emailed Scott to consider making the car in later schemes, but never heard back. Given that the Amtrak set landed with a thud, I guess I can see it. 

Nevertheless, I want to see a picture of the Amtrak set, as I eagerly await the arrival of one of the few sets that were made.

I got my invoice this morning and sent in a check for the full 12-car set.  The cars look stunning!  May very well be the "Crown Jewel" of the GGD fleet of outstanding passenger trains.  I'm guessing that no matter how many "extra" sets Scott produced they are gonna SELL OUT fast.

 

I will run my El Capitan in the exact same order (shown below) as it appeared in 1956.
