So far, I think almost all of the pieces Lionel has done for their Vision Line have been great. While most have been too expensive for my reach, I love them.

Though, with the Lionel Vision Line still hidden until the first 2014 catalog is released, what do you think would be good additions to the line?

The 700E scale Hudson and the Big Boy I was already anticipating they would do sooner or later before either was announced.

But, considering what Lionel has done already in the line, there's plenty of good ideas that Lionel or consumers could implement.

I personally would love to see a Vision Line take on the famous B-6 Pennsylvania steam switcher (since Lionel hasn't done much for smaller engines in their Vision Line), and would make as much sense as the 700E being brought into the line, being nearly as legendary in Lionel's history.

Some more of the sound and function-equipped rolling stock like the 2009 Ethanol tankers and the cattle-sound cars would be good. It makes me wonder how Lionel would do Vision Line Passenger cars...

Actually, none. The Vision Line seems to me to be over-priced, over-contented and over-blown. I have one Vision loco and, to quote Billy Crystal: meh.

I propose a new level of scale Lionel loco features: "Basic Command and Sound", for those of us who want control, cruise and a little 4-chuff/prime-mover noise. And that'll do. The loco version of the new CAB1-L/Base-L. (I bought that, but I -never- intend to buy the

CAB-2, etc.)

It's getting as unpleasant as reading an automobile "feature" brochure. Honestly I

just want to know the horsepower, not if it can talk to Neptune. ("Hey, I'll pay you

to NOT put that stuff in.")

Clearly there are people who like vision line technology and some who do not...

Getting by that though, Lionel really picked some obscure locomotives in the beginning to model. Very unique in style, sound, and features.... the more the better!

I would like to see:

1) Erie Triplex

2) Cab forward - any class will do.

3) Pennsylvania S1 duplex or a T-1 4-4-4-4

4) The Timken 4 aces 4-8-4

5) The GG-1 5 stripe Tuscan and Brunswick green

6) The C&O turbine

7) UP bull moose

8) Z-5 Yellowstone

9) Class A-4 Northern Pacific

10) Dreyfus Hudson with all the passenger cars.

Also do a set of F's in NYC for the east coast guys. (Like the early '50's)

I vote for a Vision Line smaller steam locomotive for those of us will smaller layouts, like a Mikado or Pacific for instance with whistle steam and bell action.  When Lionel first released Vision Line items they indicated they were going to incorporate the features into smaller locomotives.  I realize they did the PE and another cheap locomotive, but I want a quality locomotive with the features but smaller.

I have to state my second vote:  Vision Line Texas Special.....

I agree, I have been looking for a the legacy version for some time to no avail.  However given the space constraints in a short locomotive like the f3 I would prefer a ABBA configuration like the Legacy, with one powered B and a railsounds with a big speaker in an unpowered B.  I like the idea of the animated people in the cars.

Instead of the over rated WB livery, how about some the various BLUE freight F units!

Same here, except in Midnight Chief for me...

Although the high dollar locomotives are always amazing in Vision, how about using it in some cars that more folks can afford and that would have just as impressive an impact on folks' layouts. For example:

Dining car where you can hear people's orders being taken, you can hear the chef and waiters conversing, you can see flickering flames on the stove or light in the oven and smoke comes out the kitchen hood that smells like cookies, cake, baked chicken, etc.

Different animal cars: they have the cows covered...they could easily do chickens, turkeys, horses or sheep.

How about a vision operating car like the already cool dry ice reefers with conversations as guys load and unload as well as amazing dry ice effects.

The possibilities are so many and would be so much more affordable and just plain cool!

If they did make a big blow, I would be extremely tempted to buy.  Having the speakers in the lead unit only do the diesel and horn sounds, then the middle unit a dual speaker with all the big blow glory pumping out.  I think there is a lot that could be done with this loco to make it extremely cool.  I would just love having it it high detail.

That or a T-1 available with all the skirting or the modified version.  I would have to have all the skirting though.  Maybe make it removable so you could run both versions?

My understanding was the VL series would be obscure trains that had never been done. With that I am voicing the DM&IR Yellowstone as others have in hopes Lionel will actually read this thread. After all the Yellowstone is always my vote when this thread comes up. Unfortunately Lionel has gone off on a tangent of reproducing everything already made in TMCC now with fat boy speakers and smoke coming from every possible orifice. So for those that voted for a cab forward just be patient I'm sure it's next, or maybe an AC-9, NYC Niagara, a Mohawk? How far are we from another UP FEF with bigger speakers and more smoke affects which they will label VL. Come on Lionel give us another CC-2 or ATSF 2-10-10-2. Enough of the smoke and sound filled repros, we can do the mods to make the old TMCC's smoke and sound better.
