End of last year, I was engine hunting. Was trying to decide between MTH Railking and Premier. Went with Premier, and kept waiting to come across a good deal on an engine. Doing other layout projects, so got moved down the list. Could buy new, but was holding out.   Maybe a month ago, ran across a forum on here about Premier vs Legacy.   Seemed to be a slight favor to Legacy for steam sounds.  Started digging around. Sites that list them, show them out of stock. Not sure if truly out of stock, or moving on to the new AC9. I see it showing up more, but not what I am looking for.

So seeing if Lionel is just on a backlog with this engine and I need to wait for new stock, or just pick up a new MTH Premier.

Dont have either line of the top controller systems, also why im on a hinge. With new engine, will come the control system along with it.

Thanks for the help.

They'll likely be made again at some point. Most locomotives for either manufacturer are re released every few years.

You could post an ad on the "Wanted to Buy" forum, and see if anyone else knows of one at a dealer, or if you'd be interested in a used one thats an option too.

Heres one that was on the For Sale forum back in December. You could contact the seller and see if he still has it available.

Neither MTH or Lionel have "regular stocking" locomotives.  MTH just makes bigger batches so theirs don't sell out as fast.  Lionel has gone to the system to only build to what is ordered.  So it's not that Lionel has stopped making them, they just made what was pre-ordered.  But like said above, they'll probably make them again in a couple years.

If your interested in a MTH 4449 SP Daylight, The hobby shop in Port Angeles Washington has/had a PS1 in the show case. It's new, never been ran. I was going to buy it, but the employee couldn't find the box and the owner wasn't in. The owner was wanting full retail price for it last summer. You might be able to get him down. Might be worth a phone call.

I bought the same one off ebay and gutted the PS1 system and added a ERR DC Cruise Commander and RailSounds for the Daylight.

I would pay more than $400-500 for it. For what it's worth.

Ok. Now I know what   BTO stands for at one of the sites I go to.

I don't have an issue finding a new SP 3.0 Mth Premier.  Just read about Lionel way to go for steam sounds. But I couldn't find any.

Maybe one other reason I'm willing to give Lionel a chance is a premier diesel I have keeps having to go back In for warranty work. About to make its 5th trip.
