Bill Lenoir designed a EMC switcher in 1939 to be sold by Hawk Models ... bronze castings and sheet brass... unfortunately this one has been "repowered" with a updated CLW type drive.
So easy to put together, a high senior built one !
Looks like I have to trim the stacks down a bit ..,.

I think that is more representive of the EMC SW switcher, not the later SW1.
The SW had a similar box to the SW1 on the front, which I have heard was a sand box. However, on the SW1, the entire hood was shortened creating a "front porch" and the cab was moved in on the rear creating a "Rear porch". On the SW the cab is in the same place as the NW2 and later SW7-9 prototypes. The hood is shortened but only enough for the box. The whole front of the hood is not moved toward the rear.
General Models also made a model of the SW that is very similar to the General Models/All Nation NW2 kit but has the shortened hood. I saw one of the kits new in the Spotlight Hobbies in Kansas City in the early 80s. I think that was the name of the shop on the south end of the city I visited a few times while traveling.
The photo below shows a stock AN NW2 on top and my kitbashed SW1 below. The dimensions are based on prototype drawings. Note the "porches" on either end of the SW1 compared to NW2.
Do a search on the SW and you should be able to find some drawings, also the SW1. I can't put mine in here for copy right reasons.
