Help finding missing part for Polar Express 1225 Loco | O Gauge Railroading On Line Forum

Recently I bought a used Polar Express set [6-31960] and the locomotive was missing a small cover that is between the boiler and the bell [see photos below, first one is my train. second one, shows a stock photo with the missing piece]. I've contacted Lionel and several other online trail dealers and they have all said that the part I need is not available and that I'd have to buy the entire shell. I was wondering if any of you folks knew where I could get just the missing cap. They also said, that any shell from a Berkshire should work.

Any help would be appreciated!

You will probably only find that part from a parts out shell.

Paint a small block of wood and glue it up there. Or think creatively and add a PE figure/Elves/garland, etc. there.

I am surprised that Lionel would not have one scrap shell to help you out with the missing feedwater heater cover.
