Message on hand held says check track....then says engine error.
Are you running DCS 4.10 or 4.20, and also have a lashup in the remote? If you do, there's a bug in DCS 4.20 that won't let an engine add if it has a current DCS ID# that's the same as a lashup already in the remote.

This is documented in The DCS O Gauge Companion 2md Edition on page 149:

Engine Error
Although this error message is not very common, there is one circumstance in which it will appear every time the operator attempts to add a PS2 engine to a DCS Remote that has DCS 4.1 loaded into it. This is due to a bug in DCS 4.1 and 4.2 that will not allow a PS2 engine to be added to a DCS Remote if the PS2 engine that the operator is attempting to add has the same DCS ID# as does a lashup that is already in the DCS Remote.

The workaround is to use the Edit Address function to change the lashup's DCS ID# to something else, allowing the new PS2 engine to be added. If necessary, once the new PS2 engine has been added, its DCS ID# can be changed and the lashup's DCS ID# can be changed back to what it was previously

This and a whole lot more is all in "The DCS O Gauge Companion 2nd Edition", now available for purchase as an eBook or a printed book from MTH's web store site! Click here to go to the web page for the book.

It is a PS 2 engine and all others load just this one doesn't
. I don't mind switching out the battery but was hoping someone might know if it was another problem. The engine is out of the 2010 catalogue.....it is the AC4400 that came with the solid rocket set. That is why I figured the battery should be fine. I have other engines that are much older that I got yesterday and they loaded fine.

I just wanted to say thanks Barry!  I picked up a used PS2 switcher at a sale yesterday and thought I was cheated when I couldn't get it to add to my roster.  A quick search led me to this thread, and then I went to the section of your book that you referenced and it described my exact problem and provide an easy solution. I changed the lashup address and the new engine was added without a problem.  Thanks for saving me time, money, and face. The cost of your book (both editions I purchased) was money well spent.
